Leeds United's recent slump in form has come at the worst possible time, as the promotion-chasing pack close in on Marcelo Bielsa's side in the Championship table.

The Whites are still sat second in the second-tier standings, but are only ahead of third-placed Fulham on goal difference heading into their next game against Brentford at Griffin Park on Tuesday.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has recently made the bold statement in saying that Leeds couldn't pick a worse place to play this week.

Former Arsenal forward Ian Wright has issued a message to the Leeds players ahead of the game after these eye-opening comments from the Brentford boss.

Wright stated that Frank's remarks should motivate the Leeds squad on Tuesday evening, as they look to get their promotion bid back on track with a positive result.

Leeds will be well-aware of the threat that the Bees will pose to their side on Tuesday, and it'll be interesting to see what approach Marcelo Bielsa's takes heading into this game.

A win for the Whites could see them pull clear of the promotion-chasing pack in the Championship, as they look to find some much-needed momentum heading into the second-half of this year's campaign.

The Verdict:

Wright is spot-on with his comments here.

I was really surprised to see Thomas Frank making remarks like that about Marcelo Bielas's side ahead of the game, and Leeds will surely be using this as motivation to silence the Bees boss.

Leeds will know that they have to turn around their poor run of form at the earliest of opportunities, otherwise they'll be faced with the lottery of the play-offs once again.

That wouldn't be acceptable either, with Leeds already blowing a real advantage over their promotion rivals. They have the perfect opportunity to send out a statement of intent on Tuesday though, and they'll be itching to prove Thomas Frank wrong.
