It's a frustrating time to be a football supporter, with off-the-field events bringing an abrupt halt to fixtures across the country for the time being.

No return date for competitive action to get back underway has been finalised by the relevant authorities, as they continue to monitor the situation.

It means that Leeds United will have to remain patient in their bid to make a long-awaited promotion into the Premier League under the management of Marcelo Bielsa.

The Yorkshire-based side are sat top of the Championship table, and are seven points clear of third-placed Fulham with just nine matches remaining in this year's campaign.

Leeds have recently returned to training, although precautionary measures are in place to maintain social distancing between the players and club staff.

One player that has struggled for game time since arriving at Leeds is Ian Poveda, who is yet to make his first-team debut for the club since arriving from Manchester City in the January transfer window.

Poveda has recently taken to Twitter to send Boris Johnson a message over the social distancing matter, as he was pictured enjoying his return to training.

The Verdict:

He'll be hoping he can force his way into Marcelo Bielsa's plans at the earliest of opportunities.

Poveda is still only young, and it would have come as a surprise if Bielsa was willing to throw him straight into the starting XI when he signed for the club back in January.

The Leeds boss has better options available to him in wide areas of the pitch, and it wouldn't be surprising if the Whites were to loan Poveda out next season, especially if they're playing their football in the Premier League.

He's a player with a bright future ahead of him, so it's important that he gets the game time he needs in senior football.
