After a disappointing start to the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship campaign, Queens Park Rangers' Director of Football Les Ferdinand and owner Tony Fernandes took the joint decision to sack manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
The Dutchman had been in the job for 11 months after joining from then-League One leaders Burton Albion but he left QPR in mid-table and playing an undesirable brand of football.
The search for his replacement did not take long as QPR re-appointed their former manager Ian Holloway during the previous international break.
The whacky manager from the West Country has tasted both victory and defeat so far since taking over at Loftus Road and there is plenty of work to do to improve this squad.
Holloway will undoubtedly be busy in January and he might look to players that have served under him before at previous clubs.
Here are two suggestions of players that Ian Holloway should aim to reunite with at QPR.
Charlie Adam
Charlie Adam was at the height of his career when Ian Holloway led Blackpool to the Premier League.
The central midfielder used to sit deep and spray passes effortlessly all over the field and this earned him a move to Liverpool eventually.
QPR could do with a player like Scotland international Adam right now to keep things ticking in the middle of the park and bring experience to the table.
The 30-year-old has been limited to just 7 Premier League appearances this season and has even been made to play for the under-23s on a couple of occasions so he might leave to join a Championship club at this vital stage of his career.
Lee Gregory
Millwall striker Lee Gregory is unlikely to hang around in League One for much longer, especially as the South London outfit are showing no signs of launching a promotion bid.
The 28-year-old was Millwall's top scorer in Holloway's final season with the club as he bagged 9 in the Championship and Millwall were relegated.
7 goals in 14 appearances so far are some indication that Gregory might be able to compete for a starting spot in this QPR team if he makes the switch from London neighbours Millwall to reunite with Holloway.
