The glory days of Premier League football will seem like a distant memory for plenty of Blackpool fans, as they currently sit in the third tier of English football.

One player that played a key role in firing Blackpool to promotion in the 2009/10 season was Charlie Adam, who made 49 appearances in total for Ian Holloway's side as they were promoted to the top-flight.

Holloway will remain a popular figure at Bloomfield Road, as he guided the Tangerines to promotion into the top-flight for the first time in their history.

He provided an insight into what Adam brought to the Blackpool team in his time with the club, which came to an end in 2011 as he moved to Liverpool.

Holloway went on to reveal which of his former Blackpool players were the most underrated, in a Q&A on his official Twitter page on Tuesday and issued high-praise for the key duo.

Blackpool have started this year's campaign strongly in League One, with Simon Grayson's side currently occupying one of the play-off places after twelve league games.

They'll have to rediscover the belief and togetherness that they had under Holloway if they're to return to the Premier League one day, but promotion to the Championship this season certainly shouldn't be ruled out by any stretch of the imagination.

The Tangerines are next in action when they take on Rotherham United, in what is certain to be a tough test as they look to cement their place inside the top-six.

The Verdict:

Adam's contribution speaks for itself at Blackpool.

He was a real leader on the pitch, and chipped in with a significant contribution in their promotion-winning season from the Championship.

I agree with him in saying that Vaughan and Southern were underrated, as their work went unnoticed to allow Adam to be the star of the show for the Tangerines.

I'm confident that we'll see the glory days return to Bloomfield Road in the future.
