Former QPR manager Ian Holloway has hailed the impact that Mark Warburton has had for the Rs and suggested that he believes they can be a force in the Championship this season.
The Rs have handed Warburton a new contract following QPR’s impressive form in the second half of last season and they have put faith in him by sanctioning a number of promising additions to the squad during the summer transfer window.
QPR underlined their progress at the start of the season with an excellent performance on Saturday as they secured a standout 3-0 win away against a buoyant Hull City side, who had just secured a 4-1 win themselves against Preston on the opening day of the campaign in their previous fixture.
It was a victory that underlined their potential promotion credentials this season and means that they have now taken four points from their first two league games for a positive start to the campaign.

Speaking on EFL on Quest, Holloway suggested that he is excited about QPR’s chances this season and that Warburton has made some real progress with the squad since he took over from Steve McClaren in May 2019.
He said: “I’ve been purring for a couple of weeks (about QPR’s chances of challenging this season). I believe, when they gave Mark Warburton the new contract I was absolutely delighted.
“I wasn’t too happy with who took over after me at all, let’s leave that where it is. I think the progress that Mark is making with us, I give him a lot of credit for starting off Brentford all those years ago. I can see a total difference, he’s pulled all that team together and today was a fantastic performance at both ends of the pitch.”

Holloway knows all about what it takes to both manage QPR and also build a side that are capable of challenging for promotion to the Premier League, despite having more limited resources than other sides in the English second tier.
Therefore for him to heap so much praise on the work that Warburton is doing at QPR at the moment shows that the Rs are very much heading in the right direction this season.
It seems that Warburton has got everyone pulling in the right direction at QPR and they are becoming a powerful force in the Championship. Therefore, it made total sense for the Rs to hand him a new contract to underline that togetherness and belief.
Their ability to go away from home to a Hull side in very good spirits and deliver a 3-0 victory shows that they need to be taken very seriously in terms of their potential ability to be up amongst the best teams in the league this term.
