Ian Holloway has hit out at Middlesbrough duo Paddy McNair and Marcus Browne for letting their club down during Saturday's defeat to Swansea.

Both were sent-off during the game at the Liberty Stadium, and it had a major impact on the scoreline as Boro went down 3-1 in Wales but they were level when it was 11 vs 11.

As a result, Boro sit 20th in the Championship and are involved in the relegation battle heading into the second-half of the campaign.

So, this did not help Boro's cause at all and speaking to the EFL on Quest, Holloway made it clear that the duo had really cost their teammates with their decision-making.

He (Browne) definitely should not have done this. It’s a red card in it’s own right and he’s lucky he hasn’t really hurt him. That’s not nice, is it?

On McNair's challenge, Holloway said: "Again, I really don’t like this one. We’ve looked at it from four or five angles and he’s left one on him. That is stupid, you’re letting your club down, you’re letting your team down, you’re letting your manager down."

The Verdict

It's disappointing to see the way that Boro crumbled on Saturday, and the duo's sending-offs will have really upset and angered Woodgate.

The team will be hoping to put things right over the Christmas period and make sure that the club is not at risk of relegation in the coming months.

Middlesborough now have a massive game on Friday night when they take on Stoke at the Riverside, knowing a loss could put them into some serious trouble.
