Ian Evatt has revealed that the "dialogue is positive" regarding Bolton Wanderers' pursuit of Fulham full-back Marlon Fossey, in conversation with The Bolton News.

The Trotters will be hoping that the Whites' promotion to the Premier League could pave the way for securing a permanent deal for the exciting right-back.

Arriving in January, Fossey has featured 15 times for Evatt's side this season but is currently continuing his rehabilitation after suffering a torn meniscus.

The Fulham loanee netted once and provided a further five assists in his 15 third-tier appearances this season, and whilst his loan stint has come to a premature end, the Trotters are eager to agree a permanent move.

Speaking to The Bolton News about Fossey's current situation, Evatt said: “I’m still in contact with Marlon, he’s doing great as well.

“There’s just a chance. We obviously really like him, he obviously really liked it here but there’s a lot of ifs, buts and maybes in the middle of that. But dialogue is positive, so we’ll just see how it goes really.”

The verdict

Providing real attacking threat and defensive competence, the Fulham loanee has enjoyed a successful spell with the Trotters thus far, with it being no real surprise that they are eager to complete the move on a permanent basis.

It will be interesting to see if any other clubs join the race for the 23-year-old, and should that prove true, then it would be interesting to see exactly how far Bolton would go to secure a deal for the exciting wing-back.

Perhaps his injury has halted any other clubs from casting their eyes over Fossey, with uncertainty arising as to how long he will be out of action for.

Not only is Fossey someone who will bolster the current options at the club, but he is someone who can grow with the ambitious regime under Evatt.
