Bolton Wanderers have had a good season under Ian Evatt this season but the play-offs were just a step too far for them this year.

Bolton go into their final game of the season against Fleetwood Town sat tenth in the league whilst their opponents could be relegated, with them currently sitting level on points with the relegation zone and only safe on goal difference.

Wanderers will be without MJ Williams on Saturday as Evatt told the club's Official Media: "MJ won't play.

"It's not too serious but serious enough to keep him out and we don't really want to take any risks anyway."

However, the Bolton boss has admitted the game is an opportunity for players and he expects his team to give their all as he said: "There are opportunities for players. We've got a really strong squad now and we're able to shake it about a little bit.

"Whatever team I pick, I'll be expecting us to win the game.

"We have a duty to ourselves and our own fans. We want to win and we've trained really, really well this week.

"I can see from the players and their mind-set and mentality there has been no holiday mode.

"They all want to play and we'll pick the strongest available team to try and win the game."

Bolton need just a point from this game to secure themselves a top ten finish in the league which would be a good note for them to end the season on, before looking ahead to next year.

The Verdict:

Ian Evatt has demanded high standards from his side throughout the season which is part of the reason they find themselves in such a good place this season.

With nothing left to play for, it's easy for the players to lack intensity especially against a team who will be giving this game everything for their own safety.

However, as Evatt points out, this performance will be a chance for the players to prove themselves for their own sakes in front of their manager and fans.

Bolton will be eager to strengthen their side over summer so they can push further up the table next season and any player that doesn't reflect these standards will not be part of the manager's plans so Bolton will be expected to turn up on their final game of the season.
