Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has told The Bolton News that Dennis Politic's future with the club is not over despite confirming that the player will remain on loan with Port Vale for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old Romanian has been at Vale Park since August and has since turned down Bolton's offer of a one year contract extension as he continues to run down his current deal.

Politic is a player that Bolton were able to recall this month, however he is now set to stay put, with the Trotters choosing to move forwards with the players that they currently have at their disposal.

However despite the player's reluctance to sign a new deal at the University of Bolton Stadium, Evatt has stated that the attacker could still have a future with his parent club past the end of the current camapign:

"Obviously there's discussions going on with ourselves and Port Vale and Dennis and his representatives all of the time and we'll make the best decision we can for him and for us."

Politic has featured on 14 occasions for Vale so far, with most of those coming from the bench under the club's manager, Darrel Clarke.

The winger has made 30 appearances for Wanderers since joining their youth set up from Manchester United back in 2015 and has five senior goals to his name.

The Verdict

Although there is a clear intention from Bolton to keep the player, it appears that they would rather keep him out of the way for the time being.

Politic has bundles of talent but at the same time he has seemingly let down a club that has put a lot of faith in him over the years.

It is no doubt down to playing time and put simply, he is keeping his options open at the age of 21 as his contract continues to run down.

Bolton would feel it is a blow if he does leave in the summer but at the same time they won't want to hold onto someone who isn't committed to the cause.
