FLW's Reading fan pundit Johnny Hunt wouldn't say no to signing Nottingham Forest loan man Tyrese Fornah on a permanent basis if the opportunity materialised, after witnessing his recent performances.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Shrewsbury Town and impressed with the Shropshire-based outfit, enabling him to move up a tier as Forest sanctioned a loan move to the Select Car Leasing Stadium for the midfielder.

It was previously unclear whether he would be one of the first names on the teamsheet with Jeff Hendrick and Mamadou Loum also coming in as midfield options - but he has been a regular starter during his time in Berkshire thus far.

Appearing in all 10 of their league games, he will be delighted to have managed to win so much time on the pitch and has already made valuable contributions in the final third for Paul Ince's men.

Recording a well-earned assist in the Royals' 3-0 victory against Blackburn Rovers, he then unleashed a superb strike against Middlesbrough in the following game to claim another three points for his side.

FLW's Reading fan pundit Hunt is one man who would consider snapping him up on a longer-term basis next summer when they look set to be free from transfer restrictions.

He said: "Tyrese Fornah is a good little player, very young, lots of potential. I know he's had roots at Reading and is good friends with Tom Holmes.

"The way Forest are going they might end up back in the Championship with 40 players or whatever, so he might not even get a game even if he wants to! He's improving all the time and is certainly a big part of the squad this season.

"He's come up through the club so he knows the club, he likes the club. I wouldn't say no (to permanently signing him). I'm thinking too far ahead to say it will be a definite yes. But yeah, he's certainly done enough to merit us looking at him for the future."

The Verdict

You have to wonder whether which league the Reds are in next season will determine whether he's allowed to leave permanently or not - because it would be difficult to see him become a huge part of their first team if they remain in the top flight.

Jack Colback may be coming towards the latter stages of his career at the City Ground with Cafu also likely to leave the club at some point - but Evangelos Marinakis may decide to spend again if they remain afloat in the division.

Marinakis will want to give his side the best possible chance of remaining in the top flight for the long term and he will be able to do this by providing the funds needed for the Reds to have strength in depth in the middle of the park.

At 23, Fornah will probably want to be playing every week and he has more of a chance of doing this at the SCL Stadium than at the City Ground, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the Royals and the player push for a longer-term agreement next summer.

Ince's side should be free from restrictions at this point - but they shouldn't be looking to spend too much on him. He's the type of player they should be looking at though - because they could sell him on for more in the future.
