Sevilla are considering a move for Norwich City midfielder Marcelino Nunez, as per a report from The Sun.

The 22-year-old joined the Canaries in the summer, completing a seven-figure move from Chilean club Universidad Católica, signing a four-year deal at Carrow Road.

Emerging as a fans' favourite, and already appearing 17 times in the league this season, Nunez's technical ability and battling tendencies have been on display for all to see.

Sharing his thoughts on the young midfielder and the situation involving the La Liga club, Carlton Palmer told Football League World: "It's a difficult one.

"Nunez came in the summer. He's having a fantastic season at Norwich. He's endeared himself to the supporters. He's doing well. You just never know.

"I wouldn't have thought it is something that Dean Smith would want to entertain. His priority is to get Norwich back to the Premier League that you know, they're on the verge of a playoff spot. They're not far off automatic.

"Money talks in football, but I wouldn't have thought it was something that Norwich would want to entertain. But as I say it becomes really difficult if an offer comes in and the player wants to go."

The verdict

Nunez has adapted to the rigours of Championship football seamlessly and has immediately become one of the club's most prized assets.

Possessing great ability on the ball, real grit and determination off it and a footballing brain, it is no surprise that a top tier side like Sevilla are sniffing around.

Nunez's contract at Carrow Road will not expire until 2026, meaning that the Canaries are in a good position if interest in the midfielder strengthens as January approaches.

A player who has become integral to the way Norwich play thus far this season, Dean Smith will be eager to keep hold of Nunez as they continue their push for an immediate return to the Premier League.
