Steve Bruce takes over at Sheffield Wednesday on February 1st, with the Owls having enjoyed a pretty solid Christmas period taking eight points from a possible 1,2 and sitting in 16th place in the Championship with 32 points.

Bruce though will know he needs to hit the ground running if he is to secure the Owls' Championship status and then make a push for the promotion spots.

So who is the first signing Bruce needs to make at Sheff Wed?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

I would say a right-back.

They have been remarkably short in that position all summer and bringing someone in who can operate both there and as a wing-back should be high on his list.

This will be a real challenge for Bruce.

George Dagless

It's actually tough to say.

I like the Owls' squad and think it possesses some good players and some fine young ones too.

For me, Bruce just needs to add depth. A striker that is consistent and robust might be an idea whilst full-back might need some attention.

Gary Hutchinson

In terms of the actual name, I don’t know.

But he needs a centre forward, someone to lead the line and hold the ball up.

There’s no money though, which makes it a difficult job.

There’s very little available for free right now, even to a big club like Sheff Weds.

Alfie Burns

Let’s not get away from the fact that he needs a few, but a striker has to be the priority.

That’s the route I’m expecting Bruce to take here and we could see him look to link up with an experienced head.

Someone like David Nugent would represent good business.
