Having returned to the Leeds United bench in recent weeks, Tyler Roberts impressed when he came on to help the Whites push for an equaliser, even though a goal never came against Wigan Athletic.

Leeds fell to another defeat in their pursuit of automatic promotion this season as Wigan travelled to Elland Road and snatched all three points after a deflected corner looped all the way into the far corner, past Kiko Casilla.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side lacked any sort of liveliness throughout the game with an atmosphere that bordered between being flat and anxious as the fans knew the potential impact of a defeat, especially after the two sides faced each other last year on Good Friday.

The Pablo Hernandez own goal saw Leeds given a massive wake-up call that they had to step up their efforts to seal a win, and Bielsa responded by bringing on Tyler Roberts for Gjanni Alioski to add more attacking craft to the side.

His performances last season made many wonder whether he is far more suited to an attacking midfield role than a striker one, and this cameo only strengthened that point as his fresh impetus from the bench breathed life into Leeds’ attack, even with the lack of goals in the side.

Up next for Leeds is a trip to Nottingham Forest where they will be hoping for a win over the side currently sitting just four points behind the Whites, and Bielsa has a selection dilemma on his hands following just one win and three goals so far in 2020.

Helder Costa’s underwhelming performance also led to question marks over his first-team impact, so if Roberts were to make his first start since the Reading clash a couple of months ago, he would most likely make way for Costa, pushing Hernandez to the right-wing.

The question was put to the Leeds United Supporters Group on Facebook to see where the Elland Road faithful see Bielsa setting up for the Forest clash…

Should Tyler Roberts come into the starting line-up against Forest? Hernandez to the right and Costa axed?

Derek Walker “Roberts looked sharp when he came on and was desperately trying to change the outcome. I rate him highly and would love to see him start. Marcelo will decide, and we will hopefully celebrate at around 7:20 Saturday.”

Keith Brown “I would drop Pablo.”

How much do you know about Leeds' January signings?

Gav Parker “I would. I’d also bring Shack (Jamie Shackleton) in so Dallas can drop to LB.

"This change would see Alioski and Costa make way."

Peter Mark “Odds on for unchanged starting 11.”

Hugh Maddock “Costa was very poor last week, let's see what Poveda has in his locker.”

David Thomas “I actually thought Costa played quite well against Wigan. I am sure it will be the same starting 11. I also think Hernandez has been very poor this season.”

Richard Oswald “I'd go for this:- Meslier, Dallas, White, Cooper, Douglas, Klich, Poveda, Hernandez, Roberts, Harrison and Bamford with Kiko, Ayling, Alioski, Shackleton, Costa, Berardi and Augustin on the bench. Better defence and a very strong bench for a change. We know none of this will happen though and Bielsa will stick with the same team.”

Paul Allsop “I'd drop Cooper bring Berardi in definitely drop Costa.”

Danny McKenzie “I’d play Shack and Ben White in midfield with Klich. Bring Berardi in at CB, Dallas LB, Pablo on the right and drop Gjanni & Costa.”

Alex Dunne “Costa was hardly poor? He was no different to Harrison, he beat his man every single time, just the final delivery was poor, which was the same for the whole squad.”

Gordon Bentley “Yes, we started the winning run pre-Christmas when he came into the team.”

Petter Heum “Costa has to play, He is class. Hope he will really show that the next couple of games. I would for sure get Douglas back as left-back. We need his foot. Alioski does what he can and more but his crosses are too poor. Against Wigan, we had like 30 failed crosses. And I agree that our dear Pablo has been poor. But it’s Pablo, he will shine again.”
