Jon Newsome has said that he’d be surprised if Norwich City hadn’t already held talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a move for Oliver Skipp.
The central midfielder has spent the season on loan at Carrow Road and played a key role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League after playing in every Championship game so far this term.
With the season almost over it’s expected that Skipp will return to Spurs this summer, however with first team opportunities likely to be hard to come by next term, there’s a question mark over where the 20-year-old could be playing his football next term.
Norwich are bound to be interested in bringing the player back to the club, and according to Newsome, it’s likely that the Canaries are already testing the water.
Speaking to Transfer Tavern, Newsome said: “He’s had a great season. Will the club test the water? Will they test the water with Tottenham?
“They’re managerless at the moment. I would be really surprised if a conversation has not already been had.
“There’s a lot to be said for it, you go to a club that wants you, that you’ve had great experience and enjoyable times with, so I think it would be quite a positive thing for him if that offer was on the table.”
Are these 17 facts about Norwich City's club badge true or false?
This could be a great move for Oliver Skipp.
The next step in his development has to be playing regular football at Premier League level and a move to Norwich City is the perfect place for him to do that.
I can’t see him being a first team regular with Spurs, so perhaps a loan move away is the best solution.
