Nottingham Forest manager Sabri Lamouchi has a decision to make regarding right-back Matty Cash, with AC Milan, Southampton and West Ham all considering a January move for the 22-year-old.

Cash has spent his whole senior career at the City Ground and this season Lamouchi has began to utilise Cash as a right back, after injuries to Tendayi Darikwa and later Carl Jenkinson.

So should Forest look to hold on-to Cash amid the interest from home and abroad?

We discuss.........

Jordan Rushworth

“This is a fairly simple one for Nottingham Forest, with the Reds needing to do all they can to ensure that Cash remains at the City Ground until at least the summer, which will be a real challenge given the clubs that are looking to take him from Forest in the last week of the window.

“Cash is integral to Forest’s hopes of securing a top six finish, and even mounting a potential push for the automatic promotion spots, with the versatile right-back having performed excellently both going forwards and defensively down the right-hand side so far this term.

“Forest should be in a strong position to keep hold of Cash, despite any advances from elsewhere, given he has only just recently signed a new deal at the City Ground, and the 22-year-old is unlikely to really try and force through any move before the end of the window.

“With Sabri Lamouchi’s side performing well of late and looking capable of having a real go at trying to get promoted, there is no real need to sell Cash this month, with the Reds having the ability to cash in on him during the summer should they miss out promotion this term.”

"I think they have to.

"Right now, it looks as though Forest are in a strong position to mount a serious push for promotion this season, and Cash has played a significant part in getting them to that point.

"Consequentially, they are not going to want to lose someone who could play a key part in getting them over the line in the race for the Premier League, not only for his ability, but for the loss of momentum and balance it could cause if they lose a regular feature in their side.

"Indeed, with Cash's contract at Forest running until the summer of 2023, they are under no pressure what so ever to sell him any time soon, so I can't see any reason for them to do so this month."

Phil Spencer

"The easiest question I've been asked all month - it's a resounding yes.

"Matty Cash has been key to Nottingham Forest's success this term and the club will be hoping that can continue.

"Forest have genuine promotion aspirations and Cash will be a huge part of that.

"While the interest from clubs like AC Milan will no doubt be flattering, the hopw will be to keep him until at least the summer before assessing the interest.

"Personally, I think a move to the San Siro would be huge for the versatile star and if the interest is genuine then he'd be foolish not to consider it."
