Aston Villa had to make do with a 0-0 draw with Neil Harris' resilient Millwall at Villa Park on Saturday.

Manager Steve Bruce opted to utilise Henri Lansbury in place of Conor Hourihane for the match against the Lions, in what was a big call from the boss.

Was Bruce right to make this decision?

No, something he admitted afterwards.

You could understand his logic after Lansbury scored against Leeds but the Irish midfielder brings more control and quality to the game.

Against Millwall at home, Villa should've been looking to run the match, so in that instance Hourihane would've been a better option.

Adam Simeoni

Lansbury scored from the bench against Leeds, and deserved the nod ahead of the former Barnsley man.

Hourihane will be back in the side for Villa's next game however, after Lansbury failed to impress and picked up an injury.

Hourihane must now prove Bruce wrong for ever doubting him.

Alfie Burns

If you look back at Aston Villa’s draw with Leeds earlier this month, Hourihane was abysmal, with Lansbury changing the game following his introduction.

Lansbury warranted a starting berth against Millwall, but he will have been disappointed by his impact.

However, another unfortunate injury setback has probably opened the door for Hourihane to return.

The result perhaps suggests no but I agreed with it.

Hourihane had been looking leggy of late and Lansbury was superb when he came on v Leeds.

It was a switch that made perfect sense and so I think the right call was made, just the result wasn't ideal.
