Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Chey Dunkley is edging closer to a return to full fitness, with him yet to make his debut for the Owls since arriving on a free transfer in the summer.

The 28-year-old suffered a double leg break back in February and has since been recovering from the injury, with Owls boss Tony Pulis confirming that a return is looming for the defender.

He told Yorkshire Live: "Dunks has been on the grass and the medical people are looking at that.

"Hopefully, fingers crossed, he will be as ready as you possibly can (to playing) because we could desperately do with that quality."

So, with this in mind, once fit, do you expect Chey Dunkley to slot straight into Pulis' Sheffield Wednesday starting XI?

I think there's a good case for that.

Dunkley has obviously been frustrated since joining Wednesday thanks to injury but he'll be eager to show his new manager what he can do and what he can bring to the side.

The Owls are going to be improving defensively under Pulis, I think that is fair to say, and he may well look at all the options he's got right now and give them a chance to shine.

Dunkley will get a look-in with that and then it's up to him to take the opportunity - which I think he will.

I'd certainly expect Chey Dunkley to come into the Sheffield Wednesday side.

The winger was hugely impressive for Wigan Athletic last term before suffering that horrendous injury.

Now that he's with the Owls he'll be hoping to get his career back on track.

Tony Pulis will be desperate to add an extra dimension to their attacking line-up, and Dunkley will bring just that.

It'll obviously take time for him to get back to full match sharpness, but there's no doubt that he could play a big role this term.

Ned Holmes

Yes, I think so.

Last season he was excellent for Wigan before his injury and I think he's better than the majority of the options at Wednesday.

His athleticism, reading of the game, and aerial prowess will surely make him popular with Pulis, so he will want to introduce him as soon as he can.

It's not as if Wednesday are flying right now either, so changing the line up would make a lot of sense.
