Aston Villa are looking to Championship rivals Stoke City, with a view to signing their full-back Moritz Bauer as reported in the Birmingham Mail, in a move that could potentially spell the end for Alan Hutton at Villa Park.

Villa will face a battle with Wolverhampton Wanderers who are known to also be keen on the 27-year-old Austrian, who has only played seven times in all competitions so far this season for the Potters.

So is it the end for Hutton if Villa do sign Bauer?

We discuss.....

Chris Gallagher

"Without a doubt.

"It probably is regardless to be honest.

"It's clear that Villa are going in a different direction in terms of their recruitment strategy and this will be the last few months Hutton has at the club."

Gary Hutchinson

“Absolutely.

“Hutton’s career was over at the start of the season, Villa just didn’t see it.

“Everyone else did.

“He should retire gracefully or slide down the divisions looking for a project.”

Jacob Potter

"I think his time at Villa would be over.

"There is no doubting that Hutton is a cult-hero at Villa Park, but Bauer would be a better option to have at right-back going forward.

"Villa need to plan for the future, and Hutton won’t be in that, so it’s a wise decision to chase Bauer."

Jay Taylor

“He’s been a solid member of the Villa side – so I doubt it.

“Bauer will add much-needed competition to the back line at Aston Villa.

“It is not feasible to swap out the players in this window.

“Something could get done in the summer, but that is another story for another day.

“And to get to the points – Bauer’s addition would not end Hutton’s Villa stay.”
