According to reports from The Athletic, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are keeping tabs on West Bromwich Albion defender Nathan Ferguson.

The 19-year-old has been the subject of interest from a host of high-profile clubs already this season, with Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace being linked with his signature.

The club have reportedly offered the young full-back a new five-year deal in a bid to keep hold of their homegrown star, but Juve and Atleti have since been linked with a move for the defender.

Football League World's West Brom fan pundit, Justin Alvino, has offered his thoughts on this latest transfer news, and he said that Ferguson deserves the attention he's getting.

"I think Nathan deserves all the looks he’s getting from big clubs like Atletico and Juve, he’s been playing out of his mind this season.

"Having just turned 19, it’s crazy to see the composure that he possesses, and his form is keeping the likes of Kieran Gibbs on the bench."

Ferguson has been deployed as a right-back and a left-back so far this season, with the defender making 11 appearances in all competitions thus far.

Looking comfortable going forward and solid in defence, it's no wonder why plenty of clubs are believed to be eyeing up Ferguson - however Alvino believes that The Hawthorns is the best place for him to play his football.

"Without bias, I think his best option is to stay at West Brom and try and get promoted with his hometown club. Look, the prospect of playing at a large club can be attractive especially for a younger player, and West Brom have had their share of academy players bought by these larger clubs.

"Ferguson has the chance to be apart of something really special this season, and I think he realises that. Bilic instills him with confidence and he’s playing at such a high level in his system and with the players around him."

West Brom fans will be hoping that Ferguson snubs interest from the big boys in January, and they will be urging him to become a new Baggies legend by signing a new contract.

When asked how confident he is when it comes to signing a new deal, our regular punter said: "I really believe that he’ll sign the contract by the end of the month."
