Brentford have rejected a bid from Aston Villa for 23-year-old winger Said Benrahma, as per Sky Sports.
Benrahma showed great form last season, with 10 goals and 14 assists in 38 league appearances, in the Algerian international’s first season at the club, having arrived from Nice in July 2018.
But should Benrahma stay at Brentford or pursue a Premier League move amid Villa interest?
“He should remember that he is young and Brentford is the perfect environment for him to continue his development.
“Why risk a move to Aston Villa where he will have to adapt to new surroundings and risk not getting played much.
“He did of course know Dean Smith and that could help him, but he will be playing in the Premier League before long, so first he should repay the faith shown in him by The Bees.”
“I think he should go.
“Brentford look as though they will have to fend off interest for a number of their key attackers in the summer, and if Benrahma ends up being the only who stays, his hopes of reaching the Premier League with the Bees could be all but over.
“He may be better off taking a chance on going to the Premier League while he still has it, with the fact that he would be managed by his former Brentford boss Dean Smith an added bonus.”
“He is Premier League quality.
“As nice as if would be to see him stick with Brentford to have a tilt at promotion, I think he should go.
“Whether Villa is the best destination for him remains to be seen but it would be great to see him in the top flight.”
