Aston Villa's inconsistent season continues with Dean Smith's side down in 13th place, still eight points off the play-off places ahead of the visit of Derby County this weekend.

For goalkeeper Orjan Nyland it is a frustrating time, with injury keeping him sidelined he has to watch from the touch-line as current first-choice keeper Lovre Kalinic works to make number one spot his own.

So does Nyland have an Aston Villa future?

We discuss.....

Alfie Burns

“I’m not 100% convinced.

“For Smith to go big on a goalkeeper to replace Nyland was fairly damning.

“Of course, never say never in football, but I stand by the fact we might’ve seen the last of Nyland in claret and blue.”

Louie Chandler

"Definitely.

"He has been rightly criticised for his displays so far but with Lovre Kalinic failing to live up to expectations he definitely still has a chance.

"He seems to have a strong connection with the fans as well which can only be a good thing."

Jacob Potter

"His future is certainly at Villa Park.

"Even though he is currently out injured, he is certainly good enough to be challenging Lovre Kalinic for a starting spot.

"The sooner he returns to the first-team picture, the better."

Gary Hutchinson

“Not in my eyes.

“He’s a Bruce man and Dean Smith has a different direction.

“He might get lucky with an injury to Kalinic, but I can’t see it.

“I suspect a summer move.”

Jay Taylor

“I can’t see it.

“He might have had good news from his surgeon regarding his injury but his time at Villa will be up in the summer.

“If he is still with the club post the start of next season, I would be very surprised.”
