With most clubs only having eight matches remaining this Championship season, it can be no surprise if sides not directly involved in the promotion/relegation battles were thinking ahead to the close season and in particular the player incomings and outgoings that may occur.

One player on a few clubs' wish-list is likely to be Brentford defender Yoann Barbet, who is believed to be a long-term target of former manager Dean Smith at Aston Villa, while also a target of Newcastle according to Calciomercato.

So where will Barbet be come the start of next season?

We discuss.......

Gary Hutchinson

“Not at Griffin Park.

“I can see him going to the continent, but if it’s the UK then why not Villa?

“He knows Dean Smith and understands his philosophy.

“It’s the obvious choice.”

Louie Chandler

"I struggle to see past Villa.

"He seems like too big a gamble for the linked prem teams to go for and Smith knows him well.

"The Bees have a host of a exciting talent and would be amazed if at least two or three don't make the trip to Villa."

Alfie Burns

“For me, he will be pulling on the claret and blue of Aston Villa.

“The Dean Smith factor is absolutely massive here and I think the Villa boss will persuade him to make the move to the Midlands.

“Villa are a huge club and offer Barbet a new challenge.”

Jay Taylor

“I think he will end up at Villa if I am honest – although Newcastle seems a decent bet, too.

“There is no question he will leave Brentford this summer when his contract is up.

“And a move to reunite him with former manager Dean Smith seems the most logical – considering Villa will need defensive reinforcements, too.”
