Football League World's Queens Park Rangers fan pundit Joshua Willcocks has discussed the possibility of the club making Jan Mlakar's loan move from Brighton permanent this season, with the young striker having arrived in west London during the summer window.

Mlakar has found his game time largely limited due to the form of his fellow forwards Nahki Wells and Jordan Hugill, with the former Maribor striker having only played a total of 91 minutes so far, suggesting that he is way down Mark Warburton's pecking order at the time of writing.

Coming in the form of your archetypal target man, Mlakar could certainly offer something different to the R's attack when they are taking on teams that defend deep, and perhaps Warburton may utilise his skills on a more regular basis as the season progresses.

However, it seems the jury is out in terms of the club signing the striker permanently, with Willcocks providing his verdict on the 21-year-old:

"Unless he improves dramatically and starts scoring some goals, I see no reason why we should sign the striker on a permanent deal.

"He signed a three and a half-year contract with Brighton back in January and I'm sure the Premier League club would seek another loan deal for Mlakar to get a better assessment of his capabilities before letting him go permanently.

"He surely wouldn't come cheap and with the limited funds we've got, all our focus should be on securing players who would strengthen our underperforming defence."

It is easy to back up our fan pundit's point on the west London side's backline, with Warburton's men having conceded 30 goals already this season, putting them amongst the worst defences in the Championship.

However, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the club attempt to supplement their front line, as there is a severe lack of cover in that area, although it seems unlikely that Mlakar will be the man to solve their lack of cover.
