Both Sheffield clubs are having good seasons with United well in the mix for automatic promotion whilst Wednesday are unbeaten under Steve Bruce, and are now within two points of Aston Villa in the final play-off spot, with eight matches of the season remaining.

With excellent individual performances in both squads, Barry Bannan has been one of the best with three goals and nine assists in his 35 appearances for the Owls this season.

But is Bannan good enough to get into Sheffield United's starting XI?

We discuss......

Gary Hutchinson

“I think he’d be close.

“The set up wouldn’t suit him entirely, he’d be up against Norwood I think.

“That would be a close run thing.

“He’d add squad value though.”

Louie Chandler

"I think he would.

"That is not to say that he would go straight into the XI but I think once he is up to speed with wilder's style he would have a place.

"It would certainly give them the division's best midfields."

Alfie Burns

“I really, really rate Bannan, but no.

“What Sheffield United’s midfield do is superb, working as a unit and breezing through games.

“There’s no room for a player like Bannan in there with Oliver Norwood and John Fleck.”

Jay Taylor

“You could argue there would be a place for him in the starting XI.

“I mean, if Chris Basham can get into the midfield of the Blades, then Bannan surely has a chance.

“The Wednesday man would actually suit United’s style of play under Wilder and would undoubtedly add something extra to the midfield and forward areas.”
