The script has probably not gone as he would have wanted for Aston Villa goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic, following his January arrival at Villa Park from Belgium side Gent.

After a steady start, Kalinic picked up an injury in mid-February that handed the gloves to Jed Steer and the 26-year-old has held onto them ever since as Dean Smith's first choice keeper, leaving Kalinic to make do with a place on the bench.

So in light of his demotion, do you think Kalinic will still be at Villa this time next year?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"I'm not sure.

"Villa have some good young goalkeepers coming through so potentially they'd be open to letting him go.

"Orjan Nyland remains on their books and Jed Steer is number one so I think there has to be some give somewhere - perhaps it'll be Kalinic."

George Brooks

"It’s difficult to say, really.

"Kalinic is an experienced goalkeeper and will probably feel that he is good enough to be the first-choice at Aston Villa, so he will be disappointed with how things have turned out for him at the club.

"Perhaps it will depend on whether Villa win the play-offs this season, he might be tempted to stick around and fight for his place in the team if they are in the Premier League next season."

Gary Hutchinson

“No, I really can see him leaving.

“I’m not saying Jed Steer will be number one next season, but I think there might be changes.

“Much depends on whether they go up or not.

“If they do, it’s definitely time for Kalinic to go.”
