Sunderland will be looking to kick on in the league this season now, after a rather frantic few weeks in the transfer window.

The Black Cats were certainly active in the last month with a number of players coming in and, of course, some leaving.

Josh Maja was the most high-profile exit, of course, and he'll be looking to excel in France, whilst Sunderland fans will hope that his replacements prove to be more than good enough.

Whilst we wait to see what happens there, then, we take a look at a time they pinned similar hopes onto a late attacking arrival, in our latest FLW Rewind.

At the end of the summer window in 2015, the Black Cats signed Fabio Borini:

A striker capable of scoring big goals and with a happy knack of scoring against Newcastle, fans were pretty pleased that he'd signed a permanent deal with them:

Certainly, there was plenty of hope that he'd be a key forward for them but, as times got tough, he just could not be the consistent source of goals that they needed.

Wind forward to today, then, and they are looking for new signings to fire them to promotion now, not safety.

The token is the same, though, and fans will hope that whoever is leading the line for the rest of the season - most likely Will Grigg - will be consistent and reliable.
