West Brom are in the thick of the Championship’s promotion battle, sitting second to just Leeds United in the current standings and nine games away from a Premier League return after only two seasons.  

Slaven Bilic has led the side into this position, but the Baggies have seen their push for promotion put on ice, with the outbreak of Covid-19 postponing the EFL season.

That, however, has given Kieran Gibbs the chance to sit down with West Brom’s official media team, where he has opened up on his personal life and life within football.

One question put to the 30-year-old surrounded the funniest player currently on the books at The Hawthorns, with Gibbs in no doubt that it was the energetic Kyle Edwards.

The ex-Arsenal man said: "I’d have to say Kyle Edwards. He’s always having a laugh with someone and I love his energy." 

Edwards, now 22, has progressed through the ranks at The Hawthorns, and via a loan spell with Exeter City, is now part of the first-team set-up.

This season, he’s made 28 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals for the Baggies.

The Verdict

This might surprise a few Baggies fans given how young Edwards is, but it’s great to see that the midfielder’s personality is such an infectious one.

Gibbs has rubbed shoulders with some big names in his own career and will be able to offer Edwards guidance, as well as keeping him grounded.
