Leeds United are weighing up another transfer raid on Wigan Athletic with midfielder Sean McGurk firmly in their sights, as per the Sun.

The 17-year-old is highly rated at the DW Stadium and Leeds are keen on snapping him up as the January transfer window approaches, with the Whites already signing Joe Gelhardt from the Latics in the summer.

The youngster has not featured for the first-team this season at Wigan, but is being tipped for a big future.

So, what do you make of this transfer news? Would he be a good addition for Leeds? Would a move to Elland Road be the right next step for McGurk's development?

The team here at FLW take a look....

McGurk looks another talented young player and someone that could thrive in the academy system at Leeds.

We've seen the Whites sign plenty of bright prospects this summer, including Joe Gelhardt from Wigan, and it appears the 17-year-old is the latest target.

From McGurk's perspective, you'd have to say this looks a fantastic move.

The pathway between the academy and the first-team squad is clear at the Whites under Bielsa – as Jamie Shackleton's appearance on Friday is the latest example of.

Elland Road looks an exciting place to move to right now.

He could be.

It's obviously early in his career to try and predict how his future is going to go but we've seen several good players coming from Wigan of late and that would suggest he could follow their path.

In terms of a move to Leeds, there are obvious appeals to this move.

He's a good talented youngster and the Whites obviously have the set-up in place for young players to really develop and excel.

Personally, I think it would be a fine move for him and Leeds would likely be able to offer him plenty of opportunity to improve.

Jacob Potter

This could be the ideal move for him.

We've already seen Joe Gelhardt leave Wigan in favour of a move to Leeds United, and I wouldn't be surprised if McGurk was tempted by a move to Elland Road as well.

Leeds have already shown that there is a clear pathway from the youth teams to the senior team, which will certainly tempt him in the near future.

Marcelo Bielsa has shown that he's willing to give younger players in his squad a chance in the first-team, with the likes of Jamie Shackleton and Pascal Struijk being just some of the names to feature already this season.

I think this is a move that will suit both the player and Leeds, as I think he could develop into a very good player with the Yorkshire-based side.

I like the sound of this.
