Cardiff City manager Neil Wanock is looking to strengthen his squad as he prepares his side for a season in the English second tier, with Kilmarnock striker Eamonn Brophy a £1million target, according to the Daily Mail.

Brophy, 23, has been at Rugby Park since August 2017, scoring 18 goals in 57 appearances, having previously played for Hamilton Academical between 2013 - 17, whilst also enjoying two loan spells at Queens park and Dumbarton during that period.

So would Brophy be a good addition to the Bluebirds squad?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"I like the sound of this.

"He's a busy, hard-working forward that caught the eye with his performances and goals for Kilmarnock last season in Scotland.

"He helped them qualify for Europe and though that has gone south quickly since, it is clear that he's a player that could adapt to the Championship.

"Cardiff have seen Kenneth Zohore leave this summer and that leaves an opportunity for a new forward to come in and stake a claim.

"I think Brophy would be a decent shout under the guidance of Neil Warnock."

Gary Hutchinson

“This would be an interesting deal, not least because it could go one of two ways. It could either be a John McGinn style success, or a Greg Stewart style flop.

“Strikers coming from Scotland have a tough time in the Championship. Jason Cummings had great pedigree before his move but flopped and obviously there is Stewart as well.

“I like Dunphy though, averaging just over a goal every three games he isn’t prolific, but he’s young enough to develop. Whether his style would suit Cardiff’s ‘up and at ‘em’ approach is another thing entirely.

“There is definitely value in the move though and I think Warnock should really push it through.”

Toby Wilding

"I'm not sure about this one.

"It could be argued that following the departure of Kenneth Zohore to West Brom, Cardiff are now a striker short heading into the new campaign, but I just don't think Brophy is the right player to target to fill that role.

"Looking back over his record in Scotland in recent years, Brophy has been a regular goalscorer but not a prolific one, and when you look at the trio of promoted sides from last season, all of them had a striker who quite comfortably passed the 20 goals mark.

"I don't get the feeling that Brophy would be able to do that for Cardiff next season, and given the fee they reportedly received for Zohore, it does feel really like the have the funds to go out and find a goalscorer capable of providing them with that sort of return they really want one."
