Blackburn Rovers have had a decent start to the season, with Tony Mowbray's side currently 12th in the Championship, six points adrift of leaders Leeds United following the 2-0 win over Millwall at the weekend.

Mowbray though is not standing still and is looking to strengthen his squad even further, with free-agent Lewis Holtby a target, according to reports on German media outlet Fussball Transfers.

The 28-year-old midfielder is available having left Hamburger SV after four years at the club, having scored 14 goals in 104 appearances in all competitions.

So would Holtby be a good addition at Ewood Park?

We discuss........

Alfie Burns

“I like the look of this signing.

“Rovers need an alternative to Bradley Dack, who they are heavily reliant on in terms of creating.

“Holtby has had a fall from grace in terms of where he’s playing, but he’s still got plenty of ability and in the Championship, he could unlock a lot of defences.

“Blackburn will play to his strengths, given Dack’s role in the side, so this could really work out.”

Chris Thorpe

"This has the potential to be a very smart addition to Mowbray's Rovers side.

"Holtby is a player that will bring a wealth of experience and quality to the side, particularly with the German having plied his trade previously on these shores.

"With it being a free transfer, it also presents a solid, low-risk deal for all parties.

"This would represent a big coup for Rovers in my opinion, particularly with Holtby having almost signed for Turkish giants Besiktas earlier this summer"

George Dagless

"He could be.

"He was a decent player at times during his spell with Spurs and though it ended up not working out, he still has talent that could see him prove a hit at Blackburn.

"Rovers need someone that is going to share the creative burden with Bradley Dack and Holtby fits that mould.

"There might be some questions over whether he can cut it in the Championship but I would think that he will be able to do exactly that, to be honest."
