Charlton Athletic are among a cluster of EFL sides weighing up a move for Eastleigh striker Ben House, as per Football Insider.

House, 21, is being courted by Portsmouth and Ipswich Town as well after a stellar start to the season in the National League, having scored six goals in eight appearances.

The striker joined the National League side in the summer after being released by Championship side Reading in the summer, and has enjoyed spells on loan with Swindon Town and Dagenham and Redbridge.

So, what do you make of this from an Addicks perspective? Would House be a good addition for Lee Bowyer's side? Do they need him?

The team here at FLW discuss...

Jacob Potter

Do they need another striker?

Lee Bowyer already has some strong options in attack this season, with Omar Bogle and Chuks Aneke starting to find form this season heading into the festive period of the season.

House has really impressed me since leaving Reading for Eastleigh, and I'm not surprised to see that he's now attracting interest from other clubs.

He's got age on his side, and ticks the boxes in terms of a striker that could thrive if they have the service provided for them from midfield.

But I don't think a move to Charlton would be the right choice by House if went there, as I don't think he'd be getting the regular minutes he'll be wanting to further his development.

A move to the likes of Ipswich or Portsmouth might be a better fit at this moment in time.

Which club did Charlton Athletic sign each of these 25 players from?

George Dagless

Time would have to tell I think.

Obviously, he has an eye for goal with six strikes in seven matches for Eastleigh and that is a very decent return.

We've seen plenty of good players come from non-league to make a name for themselves in the EFL and House is at a good age to really develop into a good striker.

There's always an element of risk and the unknown with such moves but I do think Charlton need a number 9 and they are usually quite good at plucking players from non-league and improving them.

It could be decent business but we'll have to see.

I like the look of this.

House has been in fantastic form this term for Eastleigh and seems to have the makings of an EFL marksman.

At 21, he could have a really bright future ahead of him and as long as the Addicks are willing to be patient, this could be a smart bit of business.

Bowyer currently has a number of striking options but I don't see the likes of Omar Bogle and Conor Washington as players for the future.

House is just that and with that in mind, I think this would be a smart move.
