Football League World’s Derby County fan pundit Matthew Bailey has revealed he is excited about the future of summer signing Krystian Bielik but hopes the club can match the player's ambition.

The 21-year-old arrived at Pride Park from Arsenal in August for a fee that could reportedly rise to £10 million and signed a five-year deal with the Rams.

Bailey revealed he was enthusiastic about Bielik's future but was concerned his ambitions may outgrow the club.

He said: “I am excited about his future at the club because he has so much potential and will just get better the more games he plays.

“I just hope we are as ambitious as he is as he already seems to want to play in the Premier League as soon as possible."

Bielik has made five appearances for Phillip Cocu’s side this season, including starting the last three Championship games, but Bailey suggested it was difficult to assess his performances at this point.

He explained: “I think it is hard to judge Bielik at this moment, he has come into the team and been moved around and put in different positions but he has shown glimpses of what he can offer.

“He is very confident on the ball and looks good bringing it out from the back. He looks to have a good eye for a pass. With the size he offers he will win his fair share of aerial duels and looks strong in the tackle.”

The Poland international is a versatile player, who comfortable in both midfield and defence, and Bailey indicated that he believes he will be most effective as a holding midfielder.

He said: “He has all the attributes to succeed in that position, he is young and hungry, can defend well, and has the passing ability to pull the strings from there.”

“It will bring confidence to the defence to have him safeguarding them.”

Bielik’s next chance to impress for the Rams will likely be on Friday when they welcome Cardiff City to Pride Park.
