QPR are preparing to sack manager Mark Warburton before trying to replace him with club legend and current Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth, according to TEAMtalk.
Warburton has overseen a poor run of form of late as the Rs are now without a victory in their last seven matches, with this winless streak seeing them drop down to 16th in the table despite a bright start to the campaign.
It is now being reported that QPR are ready to make a managerial change following this disappointing run, despite the fact Warburton has only been at the helm since the summer, and Ainsworth has been pinpointed as a contender to take the role.
The 46-year-old has been working wonders during his eighth season as Wycombe boss with his side sitting five points clear at the top of League One, and it is believed that QPR will now try to lure the former midfielder to West London.
Ainsworth is familiar with the club after making 141 league appearances during his seven-year playing career with the Rs, and it is now thought he could be the man tasked with reviving the Hoops’ fortunes this campaign.
One QPR supporter took to Facebook to share the report with some of the club’s fans.
