West Brom have stepped up their hunt for a new permanent manager, following their play-off semi-final defeat to Aston Villa on penalties, a result that looks like bringing Jimmy Shan's tenure as caretaker manager at the Hawthorns to an end.

The latest names to be associated with the post, are former Newcastle and Brighton boss Chris Hughton and highly-rated manager of recently promoted Lincoln City, Danny Cowley, as per the BBC.

It would certainly be a big jump for Danny Cowley if he did take the gig at the Hawthorns - but would Cowley be able to adapt well to a big club like West Brom?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"Yes.

"It's a big step up from Lincoln City but he will take on the challenge and work hard to make it happen there.

"He won't have experienced anything like it but he has good support around him and he'd do his best to adapt I am sure."

"I have my doubts.

"He has clearly built something very promising at Lincoln but whether he could make such a big step up is a different question.

"It would be a huge risk for West Brom to take."

Gary Hutchinson

“I think it’s a move he would have to make carefully.

“At Lincoln he gets the run of the place. Him and Nicky helped design the training ground, they work closely with the youths.

“They’re part of the club’s DNA and they wouldn’t get that freedom at West Brom.

“It’s not a move I can see coming off.”
