The 2019/20 Championship season kicks off this weekend, with 24 sides setting out on a quest to achieve promotion to the Premier League come May.

Of the opening weekend fixtures, many catch the eye, but none more so than the visit of Leeds United to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City, in a fixture that puts third versus eighth from last season's final table.

So after the Whites took all six points in the league last season, what will be the score in this cracking opening weekend Championship fixture?

We discuss........

Jacob Potter

"I think Bristol City will edge this one at the weekend.

"Lee Johnson has kept hold of the majority of his key players heading into the new season, which could tilt this game in their favour.

"I still think that Leeds are massively under-prepared going into this one, and should have recruited better during the summer, which they haven’t done.

"They badly needed a suitable replacement for Pontus Jansson, and I’m not convinced that Ben White is up to the task of filling that sizeable void.

"Bristol City to win this 2-1 as my prediction, with Pablo Hernandez opening the scoring, with Famara Diedhiou netting a brace for the Robins.

Alfie Burns

“I think this is a good time for Bristol City to be facing Leeds; the Whites are without key personnel and may still be suffering from a hangover the way last season finished.

“Of course, Leeds will probably be favourites, but I fancy a narrow home victory.

“Lee Johnson has bought well this summer, and although Adam Webster doesn’t sound like he will be around, the Robins’ squad will look strong.

“Expectations are high for Bristol City, and I fancy them to upset Marcelo Bielsa’s men. 2-1.”

"I'm really looking forward to this one.

"With both sides having gone so close to the chance of promotion to the top flight last year, both will be looking to go one better this year, and an early win against one of their potential rivals at Ashton Gate on Sunday would be a welcome statement of intent with which to start the campaign.

"Despite Leeds' early summer transfer window activity, things have dropped off for the Yorkshire in that respect in recent weeks, while Bristol City have continued to recruit impressively throughout the course of the off-season.

"I also think that the absence of last season's top scorer Kemar Roofe through injury will be a big miss for Marcelo Bielsa's on Sunday, as it proved to be at times towards the end of last season.

"As a result, it looks as though this could be a tight game on Sunday, but I'm going for the hosts to take it just, 2-1."
