Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has added another player to his squad ahead of the 2019/20 season with the capture of Wolves forward Helder Costa on a season-long loan, before a permanent move next summer, as confirmed on the Whites club website.

The Portuguese will join on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, having scored 19 goals in 106 appearances for the Molineux side, and having helped them win promotion to the Premier League in the 2017/18 season.

The 25-year-old moved to Wolves from Benfica, initially on loan in 2016, before making the move permanent for a then club record fee in January 2017.

But will Costa be starting week-in, week-out at Elland Road?

We discuss........

George Dagless

"I think he has to be a regular starter.

"Marcelo Bielsa won't be shy to drop him if he doesn't perform but, equally, the Argentine does give players time to prove themselves.

"At Wolves, he perhaps had a couple of tough years in the last two seasons but that doesn't make him a bad player.

"He was their leading light at one point, and there's no reason why he can't be the same for Leeds.

"To start the campaign, he'll be a regular at least."

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes, absolutely.

“I had a real issue when this was first reported because I believed it was a one-off fee for a season-long loan. That wouldn’t represent good business at all.

“However, there is now longevity behind the move and that’s great for Leeds fans. They’ve signed a wonderfully creative player, something that they lacked later on in the season. Pablo Hernandez will only play on for so long and they needed someone to share the burden last season.

“This is a Rolls Royce of a signing, as important as Neves was for Wolves two years ago and as important as Carvalho should have been for Forest last season.

“You don’t make a marquee signing like this and leave him on the bench. If Leeds are playing, he’ll be playing, that’s almost certain.”

George Brooks

"Costa is a fantastic player and I think he's a magnificent signing for Leeds.

"He's exactly the sort of player they need and I expect him to play a big role at Elland Road next season - I'd be very surprised if he does not start every week.

"I'm not sure Leeds can afford to sign a player of his quality and experience and not start him every game.

"Costa is an exciting player and he's more than capable of making an impact in the Championship.

"Leeds will be hoping to challenge for automatic promotion next season and his experience of winning the league with Wolves could be key.

"He will also take a lot of the pressure of Pablo Hernandez, who was one of the standout players for the Whites last season.

"I expect him to play a big role."
