Nottingham Forest fans will be reeling from the news that manager Aitor Karanka has left the club, having told them that he wished to be released from his contract.
Karanka leaves the club in seventh place in the Championship just four points off the play-off places, ahead of the weekend trip to strugglers Reading.
Speculation is rife as to who will be Karanka’s replacement, with Sky Sports reporting that former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic is being targeted for the job.
So would Jokanovic be a good appointment at Forest?
“I think so.
“Jokanovic has proven to be brilliant at turning sides into genuine promotion contenders in the Championship so it makes sense.
“Would he want to work for a board like Forest’s though?”
“Yes, he’s got the know-how and understanding of the division to do well.
“He knows the grounds, the players and demonstrated the willingness to adapt to situations last season.
“He’s surely got to a be a front runner.”
“Excellent – he’d be my first choice.
“Jokanovic did a wonderful job at Fulham and he would probably deliver play-off football at the City Ground.
“Still, I stand by Karanka and believe he should be given the season.”
“I don’t think it’d work out.
“Jokanovic is a man who will want to be left alone and do his job.
“I have a feeling the Nottingham Forest hierarchy get involved a little too much, and that would cause friction, and it would ultimately end in tears.
“There would be better managers out there to suit the temperament of the club, and it’s owners.”
