Nottingham Forest are flying this season with Sabri Lamouchi's side second in the Championship and unbeaten in 10 matches, as the league pauses for the international break.

One player who has to watch frustrated from the sidelines is 21-year-old midfielder Ryan Yates, who is yet to feature this season, due to a knee injury that required a minor operation when the player reported back for pre-season.

So with Yates nearing a full recovery, do you feel he would benefit from a spell out on loan in January to regain his fitness, especially considering the wealth of central midfield options at Lamouchi's disposal?

We discuss.........

Toby Wilding

"I don't think it'd be a bad idea.

"With Forest going the way they are at the minute, it may be hard for Yates to force his way straight back into a winning side, even if the club do want him to reach match sharpness.

"Given they have the likes of Ben Watson, Samba Sow, Alfa Semedo and John Bostock all at their disposal and impressing so far this season, I don't think there will be too many concerns about Forest leaving themselves short on options if they do allow Yates to leave on loan.

"Yates has of course enjoyed loan spells away from the City Ground in the past, so I don't think there would be too much hesitation on his part to make that temporary departure, as he too will surely want to get back playing as quickly as possible."

Louie Chandler

"Quite possibly.

"It is a real shame for Yates because when he broke into the side last season, it looked like he would have that central midfield role nailed down for while.

"But an unlucky injury has scuppered those chances for now, with Lamouchi's current set-up doing a consistently excellent job.

"I still think he is a very good midfielder, capable of playing for Forest, but I just cannot see him getting the chances at the City Ground."

Ben Lang

"I think Yates has already served his time out on loan in the very early stages of his career following stints at the likes of Notts County and Scunthorpe.

"He's now ready to establish himself in Lamouchi's plans and I would fully expect him to be battling hard for a place on his return from injury.

"He will provide Forest with a different option in midfield and he could even be a player that Lamouchi takes a particular liking to through is mobility and all-action approach.

"Perhaps a loan move could be considered if Yates is struggling for game time, but I think he should certainly be given a chance to compete for a place in the side first."
