With only a matter of weeks to go until the start of the new Championship campaign, Fulham manager Scott Parker may need to start planning for life without goal-keeper Marcus Bettinelli, with Aston Villa and Bournemouth keen on the player, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Bettinelli, 27, has been at Craven Cottage since 2010, making 89 appearances for the Cottagers in a nine-year spell, but it was his form last season that caught the eye that resulted in two England call-ups.

So should Fulham let Bettinelli go amid interest?

We discuss.........

Alfie Burns

“It’s been statement after statement from Fulham so far this summer and the next one they should be making is retaining Bettinelli.

“Their attack looks lethal – Mitrovic, Cavaleiro and Knockaert will score plenty of goals, but keeping them out at the other end has to be equally as important.

“Bettinelli will be a consistent figure if he stays and that kind of reliable unit will be key to Fulham’s success.

“That kind of goalkeeper is hard to come by and Fulham have to be standing firm.”

Louie Chandler

"I don't think it would do any harm to sell him.

"Bettinelli did well for Fulham when they were last in the Championship but he clearly struggled in the Premier League and, seeing as that is where Fulham ultimately want to be, cashing in now could be smart.

"Sergio Rico showed last season that he is as good if not better so I don't think Parker will have too much to worry about in that area if he does depart.

"Fulham have had an excellent summer so far and Parker has proved his ability in the transfer window. The fans need to trust him entirely."

Ben Lang

"Bettinelli did not make anywhere near the sort of impact he would have liked in the Premier League last season, but I think he will re-establish himself as Fulham's first choice next term.

"He was an integral figure during Fulham's promotion effort two seasons ago, and I think he would be one of the Championship's best goalkeepers if he stays fit during the 2019/20 season.

"Therefore, I do not think Fulham should be looking to let go of Bettinelli so close to the new season starting. It would make little sense for Scott Parker's side to sacrifice a player of his quality.

"If Bettinelli departed, it would leave Fabri as Fulham's only senior goalkeeper. I think this would be a big risk with the transfer deadline drawing closer, as Fulham would need to identify a Bettinelli replacement in that time. I just don't think it makes sense to sell at this stage."
