It has recently been reported by TEAMtalk that a number of clubs are keeping tabs on Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox ahead of a potential deal in the January transfer window.

Fox has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for the Owls, with the likes of West Brom and Nottingham Forest being just some of the clubs interested in landing his signature.

Football League World's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit Louis Muhsin has issued his thoughts on this latest transfer rumour, and doesn't think it would be a wise decision to sell the in-form full-back.

"I don't think it would be sensible to cash in on Fox in January if a ready made replacement isn't available.

"If we were to let Fox go who is our first choice left back and in the best form since he joined the club, and we then got hit with another embargo for example, it puts us in a bit of a poor position."

The regular punter went on to admit that Fox has impressed in recent months, despite having a poor start to life at Hillsborough when he originally signed for the Owls.

"Fox has struggled since he signed for the club. Earlier on it was due to a combination of form and injuries and even at the start of this season he was getting a lot of harsh stick from some fans who booed and heckled from the stands, but he has shown lately how strong a character he is.

"Since around October time he has been one of the most consistent players at the club and put in some stand out performances, even winning the player of the month in October.

"He has saved us points and even won us a couple. He's really turned around his fortunes and got the fans on side with his commitment and performances on the pitch."

Fox is out of contract at the end of this year's campaign, which seems to be one of the reasons as to why a number of teams have registered their interest in signing him.

Muhsin doesn't see much truth in the transfer rumour, and stated that he wouldn't be shocked to see the full-back offered a new deal in the near future to deter interest from interested parties.

"I don't think Garry Monk would be looking to sell Fox in January, quite the opposite in fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new contract offered if he can keep up his current form.

"Another reason is the team are really settled at the moment and playing well, so Monk won't want to unsettle the team, especially the defence if he can help it by selling to a rival club.

"Add to that the fact we probably wouldn't receive a fee worth considering, due to Fox's contract been up at the end of the season, we'd be very lucky to see anything near what we paid for him which I think was around £750k."

Fox has certainly played his part in the Owls' strong start to the season, with Garry Monk's men currently occupying one of the play-off places.

With some of Sheffield Wednesday's promotion rivals interested in landing his signature, the regular punter insisted that they cannot sell him to a promotion rival, especially with half of the season still to play in the Championship.

"I'd personally like to see him carry on and see how his form is around March time and see how the team are doing before any decision is made on his future.

"Selling a solid first team player in January to a rival club just isn't an option."
