Norwich City play host to Ipswich Town on Sunday in the East Anglian Derby.
Both teams have had mediocre seasons as they both occupy spots in mid-table in the Championship table.
Joe Garner has been one of the Tractorboys’ standout players this season, and his goals have helped stave off any threat of potential relegation to the third tier.
Would the former Rangers star walk into Norwich’s current starting eleven?
I don’t see why not.
Daniel Farke and Nelson Oliveira don’t see eye to eye but he still gets starts which tells you what you need to know about Norwich’s other options.
Garner would work harder and his numbers are similar to Oliveira’s.
He may not walk in, but he would certainly challenge Nelson Oliveira at the moment given the striker’s poor form.
Garner could score a lot of goals in a creative team, and with Maddison pulling the strings, the forward would probably prove a huge success at Carrow Road.
I think he would.
On paper the likes of Nelson Oliveira are better but Garner has had a better season individually.
Norwich need more fire power anyway and so maybe getting them both in the side could work.
I think Garner would find himself on the fringe at Carrow Road.
Nelson Oliveira, Josh Murphy and James Maddison have taken up the attacking roles in recent weeks, and for me, Garner isn’t as good as any of the trio.
He’d still be a useful squad player, but not a regular starter.
