Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a solid start to the season under Sabri Lamouchi, sitting in ninth place in the Championship with only one defeat to their name in the league.

For Forest's last two outings, the wins over Fulham and Derby, Lamouchi has opted for 25-year-old goalkeeper Brice Samba rather than on-loan Manchester City keeper Arijanet Muric, who started Forest's first four league matches of the season.

So should Samba keep his place in the starting XI for this weekend's clash with Preston?

We discuss........

George Brooks

"I think so. Aro Muric is a good goalkeeper but his performances in the Championship so far have been far from convincing.

"He's struggled to cope with the pressure that comes with playing in the Championship and his lack of confidence hasn't helped the defenders in front of him.

"Sabri Lamouchi can't afford to waste time and wait to see if Muric's performances improve, because results depend on it.

"Samba is more experienced than Muric and his performances over the past couple of games have been impressive.

"I think he deserves to keep his place in the side against Preston tomorrow."

Jacob Potter

“This should be a no-brainer for Lamouchi.

“Nottingham Forest haven’t lost a game, or even drawn when Samba has been starting for them.

“He really impressed me in the win against Derby in the EFL Cup in midweek and I wouldn’t be making too many changes to be starting XI for the game against Preston.

“Samba couldn’t do anymore than he did in the win, and will be hoping to add to his clean sheet tally this season.

“Muric has looked shaky for much of this year’s league campaign, so surely it’s the right time to give Samba another league start.”

"I don't see why not.

"Samba has looked more than capable during his appearances for the club so far this campaign, so it would feel somewhat harsh to suddenly to drop him now in my opinion.

"Constantly rotating the goalkeeper behind them is unlikely to help settle a defence either, meaning it makes sense to keep him in the XI for that reason as well, particularly considering they have conceded just once in the three games he has played in all competitions so far this season.

"That will inevitably make this a frustrating situation for Manchester City loanee Arom Muric, but the experience of competing for his place in the side may be just as beneficial for the 19-year-old's career going forward, considering the increased desire he will now have to find himself stuck on the sidelines again in the future."
