Swansea City fan pundit Jacob Bellayuto has high hopes for midfielder Kasey Palmer if the Chelsea man was to sign for Steve Cooper's side on loan.

According to Sky Sports, Palmer has emerged as a potential transfer target for the Swans, who will be hoping to add some much-needed depth to their side ahead of the new Championship season.

"I think Palmer would be a good signing for Swansea, mainly due to the fact that his deal would be a loan deal," the fan pundit told Football League World.

"With the financial pressure engulfing the club, these kinds of signings are the ones we are going to have to be making until at least the next transfer window, and possibly longer than that."

Palmer spent last season on loan with Bristol City, making 29 league appearances, scoring three times and assisting once as the Robins narrowly missed out on a top-six finish.

But Bellayuto doesn't expect the Chelsea midfielder to be a regular starter if Swansea were to land his signature, which might come as a surprise to some.

"That being said, he is a talented young midfielder who would really be a boost to the depth of the squad.  But, I don’t see him starting consistently in the midfield we have now.

"Celina, Grimes, Fulton, and Byers will be those at the top of the team sheet each week.  I do think he would be a relatively consistent name on the bench though."

The Swansea fan pundit also felt that Palmer would suit Swansea's possession-based style of play, and would be a good signing for Cooper's side, especially given that a fee wouldn't be involved for a loan deal.

"Palmer and Yan Dhanda would likely be competing with each other for minutes, which could be good for the development of both players.

"In terms of the types of players Swansea should sign, he fits the bill.  As stated, he comes in without a fee, which is perfect for the club. Also, he adds to the depth of a thin squad."
