Huddersfield Town are interested in signing Forest Green Rovers defender Nathan McGinley this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The 22-year-old was an important player for Forest Green last season and impressed as Mark Cooper's side reached the League Two play-off semi-finals.

Huddersfield are preparing for life back in the Championship, following their relegation from the Premier League last season and are one of a number of second-tier clubs interested in the left-back.

Bristol City, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest are all also interested in the defender, as they look to improve their squads ahead of a promotion challenge next season.

So, would McGinley be a good signing for Huddersfield?

We discuss...

Gary Hutchinson

“I’m not so sure I like Huddersfield’s recruitment policy.

“They’ve just come down and they’re looking to sign players from League Two?

“Okay, they need to downsize a little, but that’s not going to be the route to success.

“I don’t see enough quality in McGinley to earn a Championship move.”

Toby Wilding

“I think this could be a good signing for Huddersfield.

“With full back Erik Durm among those to have been released by the club, this is a position where the Terriers may need to strengthen in the summer transfer window.

“McGinley is clearly a player who has potential, as shown by the number of clubs who hold an interest in the defender, so bringing him to the club would also be a coup in their preparations for a return to the Championship next season.”

Louie Chandler

“I'm not sure they need him.

“Having just landed Tommy Elphick, the Terriers surely have enough defenders capable of performing well in the Championship.

“Their biggest problem comes down the other end of the pitch and I think they would be better off shifting their focus.”

George Brooks

“McGinley is a decent player and he did well for Forest Green in League Two last season.

“Huddersfield have just come down from the Premier League though and will be expected to challenge for promotion next season, surely they need to show a bit more ambition?

“McGinley can play at full-back or centre-back, so he could be a good signing, but it's quite a step up from League Two to the Championship and he will need to do well to adapt.”
