After signing Nahki Wells and Tomer Hemed during the summer loan window the decision was made to cancel fellow striker Conor Washington's contract by mutual consent.

With the loanees arriving from Burnley and Brighton respectively, it bumped the former Peterborough United man down the pecking order, Washington then joined Sheffield United on a free transfer.

It leaves Steve McClaren's side with the choice of Wells, Hemed, Matt Smith and Idrissa Sylla up front as they look to overturn a dreadful start to the season.

The Rs lost their first four matches of the season, conceding 13 goals in the process, but have since gone two games unbeaten with a win at home to Wigan Athletic and draw away to Birmingham City.

With all this in mind, Football League World posed the questions to the Loftus Road faithful: Was letting Conor Washington depart a good or a bad move?

Somewhat surprisingly, given their recent run of form, 59% still feel like it is a bad move for them.

But are they correct? We discuss...

Jay Tayor

I am not so sure I agree with the QPR fans on this one.

Conor Washington struggled to impact from the start at QPR and didn’t really hold down a consistent first-team place, scoring just 14 goals in 98 games over two and a bit years.

It’s probably seen as a bad move because it was on a free, if it was for some sort of fee, I am sure the result of the poll would have turned out completely different.

Gary Hutchinson

This is very close, isn’t it?

I felt Washington could have done a job at QPR, but sometimes a player’s face doesn’t fit. This is one of those times.

I’m surprised a majority have gone with this being a bad move but also heartened that the fans agree with me!

Most of the comments were focused on him being a poor player, so to see they weren’t representative is refreshing.

Sam Rourke

I disagree here.

Washington was stagnating at QPR and it was clear Loftus Road wasn't the best place for him to perform at his highest level.

A move way had to happen for himself and the R's.

He worked very hard when on the pitch, but ultimately failed to score on a frequent basis.

Alfie Burns

After QPR’s start to the season, it felt like an odd decision.

Washington never really impressed, but his departure weakened a weak squad.

A lot of people at Loftus Road should be questioning QPR’s transfer policy.

George Dagless

It's a tough one.

He didn't have a good time at Loftus Road but that was in part thanks to a lack of opportunity and a lack of being played in the right position.

He always worked hard and gave his all so perhaps it is a bit of a surprise especially given the club's current status.

Chris Gallagher

I'm surprised by this, I think it was a great move.

He struggled to make a positive impact at Loftus Road and with Tomer Hemed, Nahki Wells and Matt Smith, they have three better options.

Given that, there was no real need to keep Washington.
