James Morrison spent 12 years at West Bromwich Albion making 341 appearances, and is now working with the club's academy sides.

At 33, Morrison could yet have had some more years on the pitch. A fine player in his day though - Morrison was as technically gifted a midfielder as any, and scored 39 goals for the Baggies whilst picking up 46 caps for Scotland in the process.

He took part in a West Brom squad builder on www.expressandstar.com, where he picked his Baggies 'Team of the Century'. The team included the likes of Chris Brunt, Jonathan Greening, Graham Dorrans, Gareth Barry and more.

Morrison opted for Ben Foster in goal - the 37-year-old is now enjoying life at Watford, having spent seven seasons at The Hawthorns in total, and making 223 appearances for the club.

Speaking about the ex-England stopper, Morrison said:

Can you get 15 out of 15 on this West Brom quiz? Have a go now!

“I didn’t realise how good he was until he left – you just took it for granted, really. But he was phenomenal."

Foster only this season won Goalkeeper of the Year at the London Football Awards, and has put himself back into international contention six years after his last appearance for the Three Lions.

"He could have easily played higher, but for some reason at Manchester United it didn’t kick off at the right time for him," explained Morrison. "But when he came to us he was unbelievable and you see it at Watford now.”

The pair have well over 500 appearances for West Brom between them, and are two firm fan favourites. Foster has seemingly got better with age though, and could yet be playing into his 40s.

The verdict

Foster has been underappreciated in his career, and it's only now that people are starting to recognise how good he actually is. Perhaps he could've and should've played at higher-levels in his career, but a good career he's had nonetheless, and a seemingly good guy off the field too.
