Adel Taarabt has recalled his first impressions of Neil Warnock at Queens Park Rangers.

The Benfica man took part in a club interview yesterday. He answered fans' questions and gave them a lot to talk about, as he recalled everything from the 2011 title-winning season, to his favourite goal and his current role at Benfica.

He also discussed Warnock. One of English football's most charismatic figures, Warnock was the mastermind behind that 2010/11 Championship season, where QPR won the title and stepped up into the Premier League.

Taarabt had signed permanently ahead of that season having been on-loan for a season-and-a-half prior. Warnock was just beginning his first full-season in charge, and Taarabt had this to say on the 71-year-old:

Can you get 15 out of 15 on this QPR quiz? Have a go now!

"It was strange at the beginning - I didn't know if he was my type of person," he told www.qpr.co.uk. "After my short loan he tried to sign me and I said 'I don't know, I'm in America with Tottenham doing pre-season'.

"He kept calling me and calling me and I said 'I have to go, this guy really wants me'."

That season, Taarabt would score 19 Championship goals and be named the Football League Player of the Year as QPR won the title amidst controversial circumstances.

That season holds some of the best memories amongst QPR fans, and Warnock and Taarabt were very much the headline acts behind it all.

The verdict

Fans loved Taarabt's interview yesterday. He was open and honest and recalled some cherished memories from his end. A QPR return has always been the hope for fans, but at 30-years-old, the Moroccan is running out of time to make it happen.
