Huddersfield Town have endured a terrible start to the season having gained one point from a possible 12 in the league, whilst also suffering a Carabao Cup first round exit to Lincoln City, form that cost manager Jan Siewert his job after only seven months at the helm.

Amidst this turmoil at the John Smith's Stadium, the club could be about to lose striker Steve Mounie, who is a transfer target for Turkish side Besiktas, as reported on Turkish media outlet TRT Sport.

So should the Terriers look to sell Mounie amid this interest?

We discuss..........

George Dagless

"Potentially.

"He, like many of Huddersfield's players, never really set the place alight in the Premier League and though he might do better in the Championship, the Terriers might well be tempted by the money they could get for him.

"He started off their Premier League foray well but never really kicked on from there and so I would say it's probably best to let him go and move on with the cash in their bank."

Josh Cole

“If Besiktas do submit a bid for Mounie, it may be worth Huddersfield cutting ties with the forward considering his poor form over the past 12 months.

“Woeful in the Premier League last season, the 24-year-old only managed to score two goals for the Terriers as they were relegated to the Championship under then-boss Jan Siewert.

“Having be used sparingly during the current campaign, it could be argued that Huddersfield will not exactly miss Mounie if he does move on to pastures new as Karlan Grant and Frazier Campbell may be more suited for second-tier football.

“Whereas the Terriers will do well to recuperate the significant fee that they paid Montpellier for the forward, they could still receive a healthy chunk of money that could be reinvested into the squad in the January transfer window.”

“I can’t see why not. I think Huddersfield need wholesale changes after Siewert has gone and selling Mounie might generate the sort of funds for a new manager to rebuild.

“The key here would be timing. There is little point in them doing it now, they couldn’t spend the money and therefore would only be weakening their squad.

“There are two options; hold out until January and complete any deal on the 1st, meaning a transfer window to being new faces in is the first.

“The other option is see if they can do a sale and a loan back. Right now, they need quality in their squad to get through the difficult time. No big decisions should be made until a new manager settles in.”
