Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Watson has insisted that there will be interest in Matty Cash this summer, via Nottinghamshire Live.

Cash has been an influential player for the Reds this season, and has thrived ever since being converted from a winger into a right-back in pre-season.

The 22-year-old has scored three goals and registered four assists for Forest this season, and was heavily linked with moves to AC Milan and West Ham United over the course of the January window.

But the impressive full-back stayed at the City Ground amid interest from the Premier League - despite signing a new long-term deal back in November, though, Watson has predicted further interest in Cash.

He said: "It was no surprise there was interest in him in January, and no doubt there will be interest in the summer as well.

"He’s young and it’s his first season playing that position, so he’s going to get better. He’s a good kid and he’s willing to learn, so he can keep improving."

A lot depends on whether Sabri Lamouchi's side win promotion to the Premier League this season, with the Reds currently sitting four points off the automatic promotion places and two points clear of seventh.

Cash won't be going anywhere if Forest do go up, but if they fail to do so, then this will only intensify speculation linking him with a move away from the East Midlands outfit.
