Despite a good first half of the season, Leeds United mnager Marcelo Bielsa is looking to further strengthen his squad with the Whites linked with a move for out-of-favour Everton striker Cenk Tosun, according to The Athletic journalist Phil Hay of the The Athletic in an online Q&A.

Turkish international Tosun is a highly-rated player, though he is likely to expect Premier League level wages, so any move for a striker appears to hinge on whether Eddie Nketiah will return to Arsenal, or whether he will spend the remainder of the season at Elland Road.

So would Tosun be a good addition at Elland Road?

We discuss.........

Ned Holmes

"I can't see this one happening.

"Tosun has failed to fire at Everton, so both player and club may be open to the move but I think finances might be the issue.

"He's struggled in English football and his £60,000 per week wages will surely be too much for Leeds.

"Leeds certainly need to bring in a replacement for Eddie Nketiah if he is recalled but I'm not sure Tosun is the right man to fill that role."

George Harbey

"I really don't see the point in this signing whatsoever.

"Tosun has hardly made a positive impact since joining Everton - he hasn't scored enough goals in the Premier League to make me believe that he could be a success in the Championship.

"Like Dwight Gayle, Tosun is another high earner who will be demanding a place in Marcelo Bielsa's starting XI week in, week out, and that is something Leeds cannot give them at the moment due to the form of Patrick Bamford.

"They need to sign another Eddie Nketiah - a young, hungry centre-forward with a point to prove, and who won't necessarily demand starts every week."

Josh Cole

“This could turn out to be an incredibly shrewd signing by Leeds if they are able to convince Tosun to make the move to Elland Road in January.

“With Eddie Nketiah’s future with the Whites currently uncertain due to the fact that Arsenal have yet to appoint a new manager, Marcelo Bielsa may need to strengthen his attacking options in the upcoming transfer window if the teenager is recalled.

“Whilst it is fair to say that Tosun has struggled with consistency during his time at Everton, he could potentially thrive in the Championship if he can recapture the form which saw him excel at Besiktas.

“Providing that he hits the ground running at Leeds, the forward could help the club seal promotion to the Premier League next May which in turn could help his prospects of getting into Turkey’s side for Euro 2020.”
